How Impregnated Activated Carbon Works and Why It Is Selected
Impregnated activated carbon works by combining the porous adsorption structure of activated carbon with enhanced functionality for targeted contaminant removal. Activated carbon itself operates through adsorption, a surface based process in which contaminants are retained within the internal pore network of the carbon. In impregnated grades, this base adsorption mechanism is used in applications where more specialized performance is required under actual gas phase operating conditions.
Impregnated activated carbon is selected where standard grades need additional capability for specific industrial duties. Pellet, extruded & granular activated carbon as the base adsorbent for impregnated activated carbon, particularly in applications such as sulfur removal and mercury guard beds.
